About Us

What is the kube?

A platform, both physical (studio gallery) and virtual (online), that provides a creative environment and supportive management for artists as arts entrepreneurs. the kube has different levels of participation for artists, depending on their needs. Our intention is to build a community for artists, from marketing to teaching to showcasing and space sharing. All marketing for the kube studios, the artists, and events will be done through our website and social media collaboration with other galleries and agencies.

Our Story

Located in Gibsons, B.C, the 2,600 square foot space started with humble beginnings in the home of Christa Joe, a 20-year resident of the Sunshine Coast.

Christa soon unearthed the budding opportunity to provide a larger studio space and support network for local artists. Soon after she began to evolve her business model, she met Jill Pilon, who had recently relocated from East Vancouver. Jill had brought with her fresh ideas and a vision for how to nurture the artist community on the Sunshine Coast.

“We really needed to ramp up our studio space and make it more of an art incubator,” Christa says. “When Jill came on board, we decided to do the expansion and now we can accommodate 11 artists as opposed to 5. We now have a classroom space for workshops. I think we do finally consider ourselves an art incubator on The Coast.”

The Kube has 11 artists in residence who have studio space, gain access to inspiring workshops and are supported by co-op marketing efforts through the business.

Kube’s art gallery and boutique retail space features art and hand-crafted artisan pieces from the Sunshine Coast, Vancouver, and throughout Canada. We pride ourselves on bringing in approx. 70% of our creative makers from Canada. We also carry high end quality pieces from abroad.

We host an art opening on the first Friday of every month with a featured artist.

The Kube curated membership fee is $129 per year (less than $11/month). Members receive their own bio page with featured work on our website, space for their work on the main gallery wall intermittently throughout the year (we rotate artwork often) and the opportunity to sell their work in our storefront and also worldwide through our Shopify account.

If you are interested in becoming a Kube member or would like to inquire about becoming a featured artist, please send us your portfolio via email.
